Sue Whitaker has over 20 years of experience in both the private and public sectors with a focus on building relationships with community stakeholders and facilitating public and private collaboration to advance workforce and economic development.
The past 5 years, Sue has worked in economic development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As the Senior Regional Director for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development (MOBD) she works with a range of companies, from start up to Fortune 500. Sue applies the state’s economic development programs to specific companies looking to site and grow in Massachusetts.
In her previous role as Business Development Manager at Lightcast (formerly known as Burning Glass Technologies), a labor market analytics software company, Sue connected businesses and community organizations with data solutions to drive strategic workforce and economic development decisions.
Prior to Lightcast, Sue served as the Director of Business Services for a regional Workforce Development Board where she oversaw, directed, and implemented a wide range of public-private development activities throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Through assessment of labor market trends and opportunities, she created and supported business service and labor training programs to align industry and workforce needs.
Sue previously held roles in recruitment helping business fulfill workforce needs by identifying skilled candidates and in training where she designed, implemented, and coordinated training programs. Sue holds a BA in Communications from Stonehill College and is currently living in Weymouth with her two sons Cal and Jed and their golden retriever, Hazel.
